Keisha Usher-Martin

Keisha Usher-Martin (she/her) is a passionate lawyer and activist dedicated to championing social justice causes. Drawing upon over two decades of experience as a staunch child advocate, Keisha founded the Philadelphia-based Modern Impact Collective. This organization stands as a beacon for uplifting the voices of children, ensuring their concerns are heard and their rights are protected. Keisha initiated the Still Here 19146 project which is designed to honor and preserve the memories and experiences of the original and longtime Black residents of the Graduate Hospital neighborhood in Philadelphia. With a strong commitment to advocacy, Keisha serves as an ally of the LGBTQ+ community, focusing particularly on issues affecting young Black and Brown queer and trans members within that community.

Keisha also serves as the Board Secretary of the Philly Birth Fund, an organization dedicated to advocating for maternal health and providing support to expecting Black mothers in need. In 2022, she co-founded Somos Philly, a Spanish Summer Immersion Camp in Philadelphia, providing a nurturing space for young learners to embrace their cultural heritage and language. Keisha Usher-Martin’s tireless dedication to activism and advocacy embodies her belief in creating a more equitable and inclusive society. Through her multifaceted approach to social justice work, she continues to inspire positive change and empower marginalized communities. Originally from Belize,  Central America, she has lived in Philadelphia for the last 20 years.
